CABLEready closes year with strong sales

Connecticut-based factual distributor CABLEready has secured several new international partnerships with broadcasters in the Middle East, Scandinavia, Australia, France and Spain.

Pan-regional network Alhurra/Middle East Television picked up a programming package comprising extreme weather series Epic Conditions (15×30’), interstitials series NY Times Short-Form: Travel Postcards (15×5’) and hour-long docs Inside Indonesia: Struggle for the Soul of Islam and Thomas L Friedman Reporting: The Other Side of Outsourcing.

Nonstop Television went for a large package of celebrity-driven content for its channels across Scandinavia and Eastern Europe, including 17 episodes of a second NY Times series, Times Talks, Building the Hollywood Body (5×30’), TV’s Sexiest Stars (4×30’), TV’s Greatest Villains of All Time (1×30’), and 15 hours of TV Guide Red Carpet Coverage. It also renewed its licence to broadcast Inside the Actors Studio, picking up 10 new episodes, and acquired selected episodes from CABLEready’s 51×30’ catalogue of TV fan series InFANity.

In Australia, meanwhile, pay-TV platform Foxtel picked up 48 hours of Inside the Actors Studio, seasons six to eight of Forensic Files, comprising 114×30’ episodes, and TV Guide Red Carpet Coverage.

Spain’s La Sexta also went for Forensic Files, renewing its contract by acquiring 197 episodes, while in Latin America, Turner Networks renewed rights to Hollywood One-on-One (50×30’) and NBC Universal renewed rights to Medical Detectives, securing season 13 for its Latin American channel. CableReady also closed sales with broadcasters including Japan’s NHK and France’s Zed, for the Orange IPTV platform.
