A comedic newsmagazine-styled show hosted by Jonathan Torrens. Armed with an arsenal of cutting quips, Jonathan attempts to answer the questions we’re all thinking when it comes to the current state of television. From the Kardashians to addiction shows, teen dramas to endless chat shows, nothing escapes his humorous insights.
Through satire, streeters and sketch, Torrens gives the big picutre on the small screen. From what’s on to what should be gone. What’s good to what’s misunderstood. From who shouldn’t to who should. And why.
Each week, different areas and genres of television are targeted through a rotating roster of segments. From period dramas to paranormal; crime to kids, Jonathan tries to answer the questions we’re all thinking when it comes to the current state of television.
Produced by Arcadia Entertainment (2011)
Episode 1: Reality shows
JT examines the new reality of TV – that this genre doesn’t seem to be going anywhere! Features include Survivor: Outlaws about the legal “challenges” facing former contestants of the hit competition show, bizarre reality formats from around the world (United Arab Emirates’ Prince of Poets anyone?) and a Pitch Perfect segment in which JT suggests new shows including Ring Around the Rosie, a UFC-style cage match between Rosie O’Donnell and anyone she’s ever pissed off.
Episode 13: Family shows
Jonathan nostalgically examines Family Shows throughout history. Highlights include a Farewell/Fared Well on the cast of Growing Pains, an in-depth look at how adding a “cute kid” can add a couple of seasons to your former hit show and a (fake) promo for Fur-Mily Ties, Animal Planet’s new all-dog sitcom starring the lovable Wheaton family.
Episode 16: Freak show
These days, all you need to be on TV is 18 kids. Or have a sex addiction. Or be 800 lbs. Or be a little person. Or not know you were pregnant...
