US distributor CABLEready has racked up a significant number of deals for its factual titles across Australia with further sales in Asia and the Middle East.
In Australia, more than half of the deals secured in the region landed at the Crime & Investigation Network. Factual series sold to the AETN-owned channel include BUSTED EVERYWHERE (3×60′), POLICE FORCE (12×60′), ACCIDENT INVESTIGATOR (18×60′) and WILDLIFE DETECTIVES (14×30′).
The network also picked up four hour-long specials from CABLEready, including GANGS: ESCAPING THE LIFE, WHEN GOOD TIMES GO BAD, VICAP: ON THE TRAIL OF VIOLENCE and BROTHERHOOD OF HATE. It also renewed FORENSIC FILES for 113×30′ episodes.
Other sales in Australia went to AETN’s History Channel, which has acquired three one-hour specials, including THE LINDBERGH BABY KIDNAPPING, STOLEN TREASURES and RETURN TO AREA 51.
Home video distributor Eagle Entertainment has picked up the Australian home entertainment rights to four DVD sets of long-running series INSIDE THE ACTORS STUDIO, which has also been picked up for broadcast by the Biography Channel (7×60′ and 3×120′), another AETN network.
Rounding off the Australian deals, the Weather Channel has acquired disaster doc series IT COULD HAPPEN TOMORROW (22×30′) while Lifestyle Food picked up culinary series A COOK’S TOUR (35×30′).
In Asia, South Korea’s A9 Media picked up three episodes of observational doc ON THE INSIDE, while Japan’s Channel 4 renewed Medical Detectives.
Also in Japan, Step by Step purchased home entertainment rights to four DVD sets of Inside the Actors Studio, while the series has also been renewed at Future Television in the Middle East.
