CABLEready Speeds into Original Production

Racing-themed US cable channel Speed has commissioned a 13-part series from CableReady, allowing the Connecticut-based distributor to move into original production for the first time in its 18-year history.

CABLEready Productions, the company’s nascent original production arm, has received a green light for its first original television series, Intersections, which compares two different vehicles each episode, looking at the similarities and differences of each.

The series pick-up is based on a pilot that compared the US Army’s top fuel dragster vehicle and the F/A-18 Super Hornet aircraft. The series is being produced in association with Bosch Media and Blue Chip Films, with CableReady launching the show at MipDoc next month.

“This is the first step on our way to becoming a fully fledged production company,” CABLEready CEO and president Gary Lico (left) told C21. “We decided that now is a good time to not only diversify our business but also to take control of our destiny.”
